Behavioral Health Services
Oro Valley Hospital’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) is accepting patients with mental health conditions affecting their ability to function. The IOP offers care to patients who don’t require inpatient care but may need more than once-a-week outpatient therapy.
The program is overseen by a psychiatrist and is run by a licensed clinical social worker. Group therapy is three hours a day, three days a week; patients are enrolled for six weeks.
Patients receive:
- Initial evaluation and psychosocial assessment to determine appropriateness for program
- Individual, group and/or family counseling
- Treatment for anger management, chronic depression, anxiety, grief or traumatic experience
- Skills to make healthy lifestyle changes, recognize and avoid triggers, and relapse prevention
- Coping strategies
- Multidisciplinary treatment/discharge planning
Admission Criteria
- 21 years of age and older
- Psychiatric diagnosis
- Not in imminent danger to themselves or others
- Impaired living skills, role performance, care for self or interpersonal interactions
- Current outpatient therapy plan not meeting needs and patient consistently reverting
- Competent to consent to voluntary IOP treatment
