Surgical Services
The process of preparing for, undergoing, and recovering from surgery can create stress for you and your loved ones. At Northwest Healthcare, our knowledgeable and experienced surgical teams can help you navigate the experience and strive for the best outcome.
We offer a range of surgical services in almost every medical specialty, including general surgery; surgery to treat colorectal cancer; many different gynecological and urogynecological surgeries; and surgeries for hernias and gastroesophageal reflux disease. When appropriate, we provide minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical options.
Patient Safety
At Northwest Healthcare, the focus is on patient safety, care and comfort. Our skilled surgical teams work closely with patients, families and their primary care doctors to answer questions and address concerns.
Northwest Medical Center, Oro Valley Hospital, Northwest Medical Center - Sahuarita and Northwest Medical Center - Houghton use an ultraviolet (UV) light disinfection system to reduce bacteria and decrease the possibility of infections in our operating rooms. This system, in conjunction with routine cleaning, is just one way we demonstrate our commitment to patient safety.
Minimally Invasive Options
The surgeons at Northwest Healthcare perform minimally invasive procedures when possible. By using miniature cameras with microscopes, tiny fiber-optic flashlights and high-definition monitors, surgeons can perform surgery through small incisions that take only a few stitches to close. Minimally invasive procedures may result in less blood loss, less pain and a quicker recovery.
Advanced Technology
Northwest Healthcare's hospitals are home to many minimally invasive surgical suites, several of which are specialized for specific types of surgeries, including:
-
Cardiovascular Hybrid Suite: A cardiovascular hybrid suite includes both a cardiac catheterization lab and cardiovascular surgery capabilities, minimizing the need to move the patient for multiple cardiac procedures.
-
Dedicated Spine Surgery Suite: Here, we offer 3D image-guided technology for improved visualization during surgery and the ability to navigate through critical spinal structures while minimizing contact with uninvolved tissue.
-
Robotic Suites: Robotic-assisted surgical suites are used for minimally invasive urological, gynecological and general surgeries.
All of our hospitals offer robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery. Here, surgeons use a robotic arm as an assistive tool to help them be far more precise and perform your surgery based on your individual anatomy.
If you are suffering from knee and hip pain due to arthritis - and non-surgical therapies have failed - partial knee or total knee or hip replacement robotic-assisted surgery may be able to restore your mobility and active lifestyle.
