Meet The Providers
Meet Dr. Stephen Burpee
Stephen Burpee, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained minimally invasive general and bariatric surgeon. He completed his initial medical training in Canada, with special interest in diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract and the surgical management of morbid obesity. He also has significant experience in the laparoscopic management of hernia, gallbladder and colorectal disease. As a surgeon, he finds it rewarding to address multiple medical concerns, including diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and more, with bariatric surgery. In many cases, the results of bariatric surgery give his patients a new lease on life. Specially trained in minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Burpee's surgical technique requires only a few small incisions. For his patients, this means less risk of infection, and typically a faster healing time than traditional "open" surgeries.
Dr. Burpee's goal is to provide the best care possible and good outcomes for his patients and to remain responsive and patient-focused.
Meet Dr. Patrick Chiasson
Patrick Chiasson, M.D., FACS, is a Canadian-trained Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Foregut Surgeon and recognized in the Tucson, AZ, community for his long-standing bariatric surgery practice. He performs all of the established primary weight loss surgical procedures and believes that weight loss surgery will continue to evolve with the development of new techniques and new technology with the goal of greatly reducing or eliminating the trauma related to surgery. Moreover, as we expand our mission to treat more than obesity and become the primary treatment option for obese patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, NASH syndrome, severe osteoarthritis and certain types of cancer, it is his hope that patients come away from their experience feeling that they have received surgical care within the context of a compassionate, patient-focused surgical practice.
Dr. Chiasson's bariatric surgery practice encompasses primary and revision weight loss surgery procedures, as well as medically-managed weight loss and registered dietitian services. He believes weight loss is not a goal, but a lifestyle.
Meet Bridget Wagner, RDN

Initially starting her career in a fast-paced hospital setting, she now finds more fulfillment spending one-on-one time with patients to build personal connections, and prides herself on creating a nonjudgmental environment. She aims to inspire and educate others to make small, consistent changes to become the healthiest version of themselves. She carefully tailors a nutrition and exercise plan to meet individual needs, and ensure success with the various weight loss options in our bariatric program.
