Having your sleep disorder treated can greatly improve your quality of life. If left untreated, sleep disorders may lead to further health problems, such as:
To accurately diagnose an adult patient with a sleep disorder, a physician may recommend an outpatient sleep study in our comfortable, home-like Sleep Center at Oro Valley Hospital. Studies can be performed during the day as well as at night. In addition, we offer wakefulness testing for patients whose careers depend on their ability to stay awake for certain periods of time.
During a sleep study, we record your sleep patterns, breathing, oxygen level, muscle tone, heart rate and rhythms, and electrical brain activity. To do this, the sleep technologist will tape sensors to various parts of your body.
If you are sleeping poorly or snoring during the study, therapy may be started during the study itself.
To schedule a sleep study, talk to your physician and ask to be referred to The Sleep Centers of Oro Valley Hospital.
