12/4/2020
Tucson, Ariz. - Residents of Sahuarita and surrounding areas will have easier access to healthcare, when Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita officially opens for business, Wednesday, November 11 at 7am.
“Health care closer to home is important. Bringing Northwest Healthcare to Sahuarita is a wonderful opportunity to allow patients easy access to needed services,” said Kate Schneider, Chief Administrative Officer, Northwest Healthcare Sahuarita.
The hospital, just southeast of I-19 and Sahuarita Road, is a 77,000 square-foot, 18-bed facility, offering inpatient care, surgery, laboratory services diagnostic imaging, and emergency care.
“As a town employee, and resident, Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita is a positive advancement for our town. It will provide for more local medical service,” said John Noland, Police Chief for the Town of Sahuarita, and chairman of the Board of Trustees at Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita. “The hospital is an impressive facility and some of the medical professionals employed there also live in town,” said Noland.
The second floor of the new facility will be physician offices that should open early next year, including specialists in orthopedics, OB/GYN, general surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, podiatry and primary care.
“We’re excited to be fully invested in the community. In addition to opening the hospital, we have already added five primary care providers, a general surgeon and a podiatrist to the community this year. These new providers join the two gastroenterologists, two cardiologists and orthopedic surgeon who have been in the community for some time,” said Kevin Stockton, Regional President & Market CEO of Northwest Healthcare.
Northwest first came to Sahuarita in 2010, with an urgent-care facility and outpatient imaging and laboratory services, and is now expanding to accommodate growth in the area. Sun Corridor Inc., which helped Northwest with its expansion plans, estimates the new Sahuarita hospital will have a regional economic impact of $165 million over the next five years.
When fully staffed, the facility will also employ about 100, including nurses, physicians and support staff workers, said Schneider. “We look forward to being an integral part of the Sahuarita community.”
